Ladies’ Day
1:50
Kincsem Handicap 3YO only, 13 Runners, Class 2, 1m 1f 197y
A fiercely competitive three-year-old handicap with a host of top connections represented. MIGDAM (3) produced quite a display making a winning handicap debut at Doncaster and Sir Michael Stoute excels with a horse like this. No surprise to see a 6lb rise in the weights but this could be well within range. ASAASSI (8) made light work of his mark scoring on handicap debut at York. Rates a danger especially if receiving a good gallop to aim at. The Godolphin pair of WARREN POINT (4) and BLUE TRAIL (6) need respect with the former preferred by stable jockey William Buick. Impressive Sandown winner VEE SIGHT (12) is also considered.
2:25
Richmond Stakes (Group 2) 2YO only, 9 Runners, Class 1, 6f
The G2 Coventry Stakes form continues to go from strength-to-strength and ROYAL SCOTSMAN (7) arrives on the back of a solid third in that contest. He was an impressive wide-margin course and distance maiden winner (second and third have won well since) going into that and he can put his track experience to good use. CHATEAU (3) battled on strongly to finish fourth in the Listed Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and looks the main danger having managed to follow that up with a cosy success at Newbury. CRISPY CAT (4) is interesting back down in standard having not been disgraced in the G1 Railway Stakes at the Curragh while first time up winner AL KARRAR (1) is noted.
3:00
John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3) 3YO only, 10 Runners, Class 1, 1m 3f 218y
There were plenty of doubts about whether HOO YA MAL (5) would stay the 1m4f journey however those worries were seemingly answered when second tackling the G1 Epsom Derby in June. Subsequently moved stables and although clearly has other long-term targets it would be disappointing if he weren’t going close with 7lb to spare on official ratings. The progressive NEW LONDON (8) proved handicaps would probably no longer be an option when winning by 3L at Newmarket (July) last-time-out. Looks the obvious threat. GRAND ALLIANCE (4) was just denied in the G2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. Must rate highly. WEST WIND BLOWS (10) cannot be dismissed.
3:35
Qatar Nassau Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Group 1) (British Champions Series) 3YO plus, 9 Runners, Class 1, 1m 1f 197y
English Oaks third NASHWA (7) made no mistake dropping back in trip last time and always looked to be doing enough in the G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly ultimately prevailing by a head. Certainly looks the one to beat on that form and in receipt of weight from her elders could take plenty of stopping. DREAMLOPER (2) disappointed when fifth in the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh though did quicken smartly to win the G1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp prior. Might find this track to her liking. LILAC ROAD (3) is clearly a filly with immense ability. Can be considered on the back of a 0.5L success in the G2 Middleton Stakes at York. VILLE DE GRACE (4) rates an each-way option.
4:10
Jaeger-Lecoultre Nursery 2YO only, 13 Runners, Class 2, 7f
SEDUCTIVE POWER (6) stuck to his task well winning a Newbury maiden by 2.25L last-time-out. Maintains a particularly interesting profile while Richard Hannon and Sean Levey have teamed up to win this twice in the last five years. There could be plenty more to come from this colt now entering nurseries. Never write off Mark and Charlie Johnston at Goodwood and the top-weight TRUE STATESMAN (1) holds obvious claims following a facile 3L nursery success at Chester. SELF PRAISE (5) is consistent. Deservedly got his head in front at Chester and looks interesting with first-time cheekpieces fitted. MISS JUNGLE CAT (7) and FAR SHOT (3) are also included.
4:45
World Pool Handicap 3YO only, 14 Runners, Class 3, 5f
NAVELLO (1) was badly hampered before running on nicely into fifth at Chester. Possibly not the best handicapped horse in this however may relish the downhill test and with that in mind is considered. GET AHEAD (3) shaped nicely when midfield in a competitive sprint at Ascot and is dangerous to dismiss down in weight on second handicap outing. The improving DUSKY PRINCE (8) battled well to score by a neck at Doncaster and must be included while others to note are SWAYZE (5) and SIR HENRY COTTON (7).
5:20
Tatler EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race) 2YO only, 20 Runners, Class 2
ZARGA (20) caught the eye running on from an uncompromising position to grab third at Kempton making debut. May take a sizeable step forward with that experience gained. SHE’S HOT (14) acquitted herself well when ninth in the G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and must hold strong claims back among maiden company. SPARKLING BEAUTY (17) managed a promising runner-up effort at Newbury first time-out and needs considering. LUCKIN BREW (7) is another to note representing top connections while DAYDREAM DANCER (4) and CHELSEA GREEN (3) are noted newcomers.
