We should start by saying that he probably isn’t good enough to win the Grand National itself, in fact, you must go back to 1993 to find a winner of both races and even Party Politics won it the year after winning at Aintree, but there is an angle to say that this is LORD DU MESNIL’s big day. He finished 2nd in this race in 2020 and went one better last year to win this by half-a-length in a driving finish with Achille.He arrives here on a mark just 1lb higher than for last years’ success and connections will be hoping for another big run. His 2nd placed finish behind Good Boy Bobby at Wetherby in the Rowland Meyrick reads well and he is perhaps best forgiven his 6th place finish in the Peter Marsh last month when he did too much in front. Dropped 3lb by the handicapper for that effort he is sure to go close with conditions to suit.
