Serbia vs England – Euro 2024 Group Stage Prediction Match Details

England will play against Serbia in the opening group-stage match of the 2024 UEFA European Championship on June 16 at Veltins Arena Stadium in Gelsenkirchen. The Three Lions are among the favourites for victory.

Serbia Preview & Form

Serbia is making their debut in the European Championships after finishing second in Group G behind Hungary in the qualification for the Euro 2024 round. The Serbians have been in mixed form in their preparatory matches ahead of this tournament, with two losses and two wins. Dragan Stojkovic’s side was heavily beaten 4-0 by Russia in the first of their warm-up games in March and then followed that with a lackluster 1-0 win away to Cyprus. They then travelled to Austria, where they lost 2-1 in early June before a much more impressive 3-0 away win over Sweden in their final preparation game. Scoring goals has not been an issue for the Serbian team, as they have only failed to score in one of their last competitive matches this year.

England Preview & Form

England begins their 2024 European campaign by finishing unbeaten in the qualification round and comfortably topping qualification group C ahead of Italy and Ukraine. However, they have won only one of their last five games since a 2-0 win over Malta at Wembley in November 2023.

In their Euro tournament preparation, England suffered two losses, managed one draw, and secured one win. During this period, they experienced a 1-0 defeat to Brazil, followed by a 2-2 draw with Belgium in March. On the upside, England did defeat Bosnia & Herzegovina 3-0 at St. James’ Park. However, their most recent friendly match ended in a 1-0 defeat against Iceland, putting significant pressure on England’s head coach, Gareth Southgate. Southgate has recently expressed that he sees this tournament as his “last chance” to win anything as the England manager. Southgate will be hoping that his squad can make a strong start to the opening match of the European campaign.

Serbia vs England Prediction Betting Tips

This is the first meeting between the two teams. Considering that both teams have shown mixed form in their preparatory matches ahead of the tournament, we anticipate that Gareth Southgate’s team will come out on top and get a hard-fought win. We expect that both teams will also score in the match.
