Man City vs Wolves
Wolves face an unenviable task of trying to stop Man City on home soil on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola was critical of his side after the 4-2 win over Spurs. City were in fact booed off at half-time 2-0 down, but they were transformed after half-time and scored four times with Riyah Mahrez assisting and scoring twice.
Guardiola warned his players that Arsenal will run away with the title if his City side repeat that performance. But in reality the second half at The Etihad was as good as City have produced in a long while.
There may well have been some mind games from Pep, because City were exceptional in the second 45 minutes against a Spurs side who played well.
The silky Mahrez was simply brilliant and he looks like a man in form. He has started four of the last five league games and has scored three times and grabbed two assists.
Wolves have won only once away from Molineux, but they came in new boss Julen Lopetegui’s first game as Everton were beaten late on.
Lopetegui has since overseen a draw at Villa, narrow defeat to Man Utd and a win over West Ham, so his start has been more than solid. But City looked to have their mojo back on Thursday night and the hosts will take some stopping.
Don’t rule out Wolves scoring though. City have struggled to keep clean sheets at home and with an xG (1.57) in the top eight of the Premier League, Wolves could score for the fifth straight game on the road.
A win for the men from Molineux looks out of their reach and City are very short, but backing Mahrez to get assists and or goals looks the way to go.
