Man Utd vs Galatasaray – team news

Man Utd’s injury-hit defence will be without Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia on Tuesday.

The continued absences of Jadon Sancho and Antony mean that Bruno Fernandes could play out wide again with Mason Mount in the middle and Marcus Rashford on the other side.

Wilfried Zaha, Mauro Icardi, Dries Mertens and Kerem Akturkoglu form a dangerous attack, but Hakim Ziyech could miss out due to injury.

Kazimcan Karatas is the only other confirmed absentee, but ex-Man City man Angelino was always likely to be preferred at left-back.

Man Utd vs Galatasaray – verdict

Crystal Palace’s 1-0 victory at Old Trafford is the latest in a long line of setbacks for Manchester United, who have endured their worst start to a season since 1989.

While it looks like a typical smash-and-grab on paper, Roy Hodgson’s side was resolute and rarely troubled by United.

United’s marginally better xG from 11 shots highlights the lack of quality chances they create, with an average of just 0.06 per shot.

One man who knows what it’s like to beat the Reds at Old Trafford is Galatasaray winger and ex-Eagle Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha, alongside Icardi, Akturkoglu and Mertens, have combined for 25 goal involvements in 14 matches so far this season so present a significant threat.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Ten Hag’s side were conceding three goals in three consecutive games for the first time since 1978.

They’ve tightened up since, but Burnley were deserving of a goal and a point at Turf Moor, so little has changed.

That said, playing at Old Trafford is a different story. Before the 3-1 loss to Brighton, the English side had won 27 and drawn four of their previous 31 matches there.

Galatasaray are unbeaten in 14 in all competitions this season, winning 11 and protecting that record with two goals in the final four minutes against Copenhagen on matchday one.

They have bags of experience in their ranks and they’ll come to Old Trafford without any trepidation, so we think they’ll find the net and pinch a point.
