Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction Match Details

Liverpool will host Wolverhampton Wanderers in Jurgen Klopp’s emotional final game in charge of the Reds at the Anfield Stadium. The Reds will be looking to end the season in a comfortable style.

Liverpool Preview & Form

Liverpool is looking to send off their manager, Jurgen Klopp, with a victory in his final game, as the German coach’s nine spells at the club are set to end on Sunday. Although Liverpool were in the title race for quite some time, they fell off down the stretch, leaving the club with little to play for on the final day other than an emotional send-off for their red-blooded boss. The Reds’ dream of a quadruple started to shatter in April when they hosted Manchester United in the Premier League, resulting in a 2-2 draw. In their next game, the Reds suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals first leg to Atalanta. Following the Europa League defeat, the Reds suffered 1-0 defeats to Crystal Palace at Anfield Stadium and then 2-0 to Everton on the road.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has been excellent when playing at Anfield Stadium all season, as the Reds have suffered only two defeats in all competitions. The Reds have been consistent with scoring goals at home but have failed to score in only three matches played on their home soil.

Wolverhampton Preview & Form

Wolverhampton has little left to play for in their final match as they have managed to move out of the relegation zone. However, their recent performance in the league has been troubling. Since suffering a shocking 3-2 defeat in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup to Coventry, the Wolves’ performance has been abysmal. They have only recorded one win in their last nine Premier League games, with six losses and two draws. The poor run of form sees the Wolves sit 13th in the league standings with 46 points from 37 games, and they have only won 13 games all season.

Gary O’Neil’s side has also been poor all season, as they have only recorded five Premier League wins all season but lost nine while conceding 33 away goals. They have also gone five consecutive games without a win, with their last away match ending in a heavy 5-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool vs Wolves Team News

Jurgen Klopp will have almost his entire squad available for the match against Wolves, except Joel Matip and Thiago, who are both long-term absentees and will be saying goodbye to Anfield on Sunday. Diogo Jota may not be able to play against his former team due to an injury he picked up in the 3-1 win over Fulham on April 21, but he could at least be on the bench this weekend. Andy Robertson missed the game against Aston Villa due to a minor issue, but he has returned to training and should be fit for the upcoming match.

On the other hand, Wolves may be missing the influential Pedro Neto for the trip to Merseyside, as he has been absent for over two months with a hamstring problem. Craig Dawson is also unavailable in defence after undergoing surgery in April, and youngster Leon Chiwome is missing with an ankle injury.
