What can you say about Wayne Rooney and Derby County?
In the face of impossible circumstances off the field they have given everything to try and lift the spirits of their fans and the fact that they are even in touch with the other teams around them after a 21-point deduction deserves huge credit. There is a long way to go, and the task is still a monumental one, made harder by the fact that they score less than a goal per game, but there is hope and much of the football supporting public are willing them on to pull off an almost impossible survival.
Derby are 5th in the form table, with Birmingham 20th and despite their struggles, this looks an ideal opportunity for Rooney’s men to pick up 3 points and narrow the gap on a potential relegation rival. Last week’s win over bottom side Barnsley was the first Lee Bowyers team have managed in their last 6 and papers over the cracks of some serious issues both on and off the field.
The momentum looks to be with the home side, and they are good value for another home win.
