Lille are best described as inconsistent this season. The fact they have made it to the last 16 of the Champions league will be seen as a plus, but their middle table position in Ligue 1 is a fair reflection of their lack of consistency. Recent high-profile defeats to Paris St Germain (5-1) and Brest (2-0) have made European qualification for next season seem ever more unlikely and in their current form, they will find Chelsea too hot to handle.
Thomas Tuchel’s team seem to have come through the worst of their mid-season struggles and will fancy their chances of progressing from this tie. A routine win at Stamford Bridge seems the most likely outcome on Tuesday.
