Aston Villa vs West Ham Match Details:

Aston Villa and West Ham are two clubs that are expecting to be jostling for position just outside the Champions League places come the end of the season.

Aston Villa vs West Ham Preview:

While West Ham are now seasoned European campaigners, Villa’s return to the continent has been a bit wobbly. But there’s no doubt they’ll both want another crack at it next season…however much the ‘bigger’ clubs sneer at the so-called lesser European competitions.

This encounter will be a true test of their European qualification credentials.

The problem with West Ham and Aston Villa is, while on their day they can be great, they can also serve up some right rubbish.

Newcastle gave Villa good kicking on the opening day of the campaign, while West Ham were poor in the league last season given their recent high standards.

They both have two managers who have turned the club’s fortunes around recently. Although Moyes always seemed to be one game from the sack for most of the start of the year.

So not an inch will be given by either side at Villa Park – a venue synonymous with goal-scoring drama this season.

Aston Villa will fancy their chances at home considering they’ve won five of six games at Villa Park this season.

Games at the Birmingham ground average 3.6 goals across all competitions and five in the Premier League.

Villa’s three home games in the league this season have seen them beat Everton 4-0, Crystal Palace 3-1 and Brighton 6-1.

West Ham are not expected to be easy pushovers as they make the trip with a four-match unbeaten run to their name.

The Irons have only lost two of their 11 matches this season across all competitions, with Man City and Liverpool the only ones managing to down Moyes’ side.

Emiliano Buendia, Tyrone Mings and Alex Moreno are all out of action for Aston Villa. Timothy Iroegbunam and Jacob Ramsey are both doubts for the match.

West Ham are set to be unchanged from the 2-2 draw with Newcastle before the international break.

Now that you’ve read all that, what about betting tips? Both teams to score is an easy one. Over 3.5 goals is another.

But backing a draw in the outrights will offer the most value ahead of this weekend’s encounter.

Prediction:

  • Match result – draw
  • Both teams to score
  • Over 3.5 goals
