Arsenal vs Tottenham – Premier League Preview, Sat 1st, 12.30pm

Premier League football returns with a bang this weekend as top-of-the-table Arsenal host Tottenham in the 192nd North London derby.

The Gunners are enjoying an incredible start to the season having won six of their opening seven games.

Tottenham have also impressed this season and currently find themselves third in the standings – just a point behind their city rivals.

Antonio Conte’s men are still unbeaten in the league and they will be desperate to leapfrog their rivals into top spot. However, in order to pull that off, Spurs will have to overcome a 12-year wait for a league win away at The Emirates.

Tottenham haven’t tasted victory at the ground since 2010 when Younes Kaboul, Rafael van der Vaart and Gareth Bale all stamped their names onto the scoresheet in a 3-2 win.

Despite their long wait for an away success against their arch rivals, Spurs fans have plenty of reasons to feel optimistic ahead of Saturday’s kick-off.

For instance, only Manchester City have scored more goals than Tottenham in the Premier League this term. What’s more, Conte’s men boast the joint-best defence away from home having conceded just three goals.

Another positive for the visitors is the fact their squad is relatively injury-free after a busy international break.

The same cannot be said about the Gunners. While Mikel Arteta’s side haven’t picked up any fresh injuries over the past fortnight, they’re still without the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Nevertheless, Arsenal will be hoping to pick up where they left off as they target their seventh league win of the season.

Arteta’s men have been particularly deadly at home having won all three of their games at The Emirates. If you include their results from last season, the Gunners are unbeaten in six competitive games at home.

Arsenal have won the last two North London derbies at home and they will be looking to make it three in a row for the first time since 2013.

Considering both teams are in good goalscoring form, we should expect plenty of goal-mouth action come the weekend.

As well as their recent goalscoring exploits, Tottenham have also found the back of the net in each of their last 10 meetings with the Gunners.

Speaking of Arteta’s men, they haven’t been kept scoreless at home since a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool back in March.

With that in mind, our recommendation is to back the over 2.5 goals market.
