BAY BRIDGE – to win
Sir Michael Stoute is the joint most winning trainer of the Eclipse with six victories. His last win came back in 2017 with Ulysses and he has a leading chance this year with BAY BRIDGE.
The four-year-old colt won all his starts as a three-year-old, ending with a Listed success at Newmarket in October. He returned to action when winning the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes by five lengths over course and distance in May, before finished second in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. He allowed the winner an easy lead on that occasion and Ryan Moore is unlikely to make the same mistake in this contest.
This trainer excels with older horses and Bay Bridge is worth another chance at the highest level. Jockey Ryan Moore has a 28% strike-rate in the last 14 days and won the race last year when on-board St Mark’s Basilica for Aidan O’Brien.
