2:55 Musselburgh – Moon King
This is the final of the Go North Brindisi Breeze series and if there is a horse who is peaking at the right time, then it looks to be the top weight MOON KING. Charlie Longsdon has this improving 6-year-old in good form and if he can repeat the level of form that he showed when finishing 2nd at Catterick at the start of this month, he should probably win this. He made most of the running that day and became engaged in a long battle up the home straight with the eventual winner Spike Jones, who he was giving 11lbs to on the day. They came away from Flexi Furlough (who also takes his chance here) in the closing stages and there doesn’t seem to be any reason to think that form will be reversed, despite a 3lb swing at the weights. Lily Pinchin is excellent value for her 5lb claim and Moon King looks to have been targeted at this race for some time, arriving in much better form than most of his rivals.
3:30 Musselburgh – Blue Hawaii
The Lady Buttons Mares hurdle series concludes with this 2mile 3-furlong handicap and although it looks to be an open affair, BLUE HAWAII makes some decent appeal under Sean Quinlan. She won a bumper here in November 2020 and has been largely consistent over hurdles this season, with recent form figures of 2,4,2,2. The step up in trip should suit this daughter of Jeremy, who is a half-sister to 3 winners over the longer trips and if that were to bring out any further improvement, she should go close on a mark of just 98.
