AL HUSN (2) completed a well-spread-out hat-trick keeping on nicely to win a fillies handicap over 1m here a fortnight ago. The quickish turnaround poses some questions but she looks a progressive type and can defy a hike in the weights tackling this distance for the first time. PERSIST (6) stuck to her task well when scoring over this trip at Haydock a month ago and must be considered nudged up another 3lbs. Handicap debutante CRYSTAL ESTRELLA (3) is an interesting contender having readily scooted clear to win a Goodwood novice event in May. Recent Sandown winner I’LL BE THERE (10) needs considering.

A huge field for this October Auction Stakes event making it a tricky puzzle to solve. It could pay to stick with the top-rated AMICHI (1) who stuck on well to win a similar contest over this trip here (July course) 35 days ago. The main danger could come from SKYSAIL (7) who created a nice impression when winning a Newbury maiden last-time-out. On ratings UNION COURT (24) comes out extremely well at the weights although stall four could prove far from ideal. WOOLHAMPTON (25) finished seventh when 5.5L behind Amichi last start but must be considered from an each-way angle.

It’s tough to fault SAFFRON BEACH (3) this season having won the G1 Rothschild in excellent style at Deauville before finishing a good second in the G1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown. Jane Chapple-Hyam’s stable star won this last year when rated 6lbs inferior to what she is now and looks to have every chance of completing a memorable double. HOMELESS SONGS (7) would have needed the run when fourth behind the selection in the G1 Matron Stakes on reappearance and she could bounce right back to her very best with a first-time tongue-tie interesting. Top connections see LAUREL (8) fit to step up to the highest level following a pair of impressive victories in her career thus far. PROSPEROUS VOYAGE (9) is the next best.

BAREFOOT ANGEL (1) has won her last two starts including by a long-neck in the G3 Firth Of Clyde Fillies’ Stakes at Ayr two weeks ago. Expected to challenge for the win. MARIA BRANWELL (8) faded when 4L ninth in the previously mentioned G3 Firth Of Clyde Fillies’ Stakes at Ayr. Warrants close consideration on earlier form. WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (9) delivered a head second in a sales event at York in August. Strong claims of going one better.
