Selections

Stewards’ Cup Day

1:05

British EBF Maiden

CLASSIC (2) looked a future winner finishing an eye-catching fourth at Newbury on debut. Clearly a colt of immense ability this son of Dubawi could take some beating. THE FOXES (8) was set a stiff task when ninth in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot on his second career start. Rates the chief threat back among maiden company. LOYAL TOUCH (4) showed promise when third at Salisbury making debut and may find this track to his liking while HUNKPAPA (3) is also noted.

1:40

6f Coral Stewards’ Cup (Consolation Race)

LETHAL LEVI (7) continues to go from strength-to-strength. Made all the running to score by 2L in a Newmarket (July) handicap a week ago. This downhill track represents a different test but he is well in under a penalty and holds obvious claims. MANY A STAR (8) disappointed when eighth at Newmarket (July) however could find a return to this venue more to his liking. STONE OF DESTINY (3) shaped better than the bare result finishing downfield over course and distance earlier this week and certainly holds form to be involved. DIGITAL (1) and NELSON GAY (5) both maintain each-way claims.

2:10

1m 6f Coral Summer Handicap

Forgive a recent CEMHAAN (10) run at Ascot given the way the race unfolded and how much interference he suffered. Arrives unbeaten in both starts tackling this trip and with a progressive profile prior is worth another chance. VALLEY FORGE (8) produced a brilliant race when sixth in the competitive Northumberland Plate (Heritage Handicap) at Newcastle. Could go well. SOAPY STEVENS (4) aims for a hat-trick following wins at Chester and Newmarket (July). Bold bid can be expected up in weight. BOSS POWER (9) might go well if on a going day while the improving BAGUE D’OR (13) is not to be dismissed.

2:45

1m 6f Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2)

Top-rated SEA LA ROSA (3) will be giving a stone in weight to the main market rival EMILY DICKINSON (7) however is still preferred. The William Haggas-trained four-year-old probably encountered a very smart filly when runner-up in the G2 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock and is expected to go one better in what looks a more moderate affair for the grade while the latter mentioned is an Aiden O’Brien filly and is the obvious danger on the back of a very good fourth in the G1 Irish Oaks a fortnight ago. GLENARTNEY (2) will have plenty to find on ratings but is worth including following a narrow-Listed success at Pontefract. URBAN ARTIST (4) could go well at a decent each-way price.

3:20

6f Coral Stewards’ Cup

One of the seasons feature handicap sprints. INVER PARK (17) brings the right profile for a race of this nature and is clearly on an upward trajectory following a smooth success in the Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap) at Royal Ascot. This is sure to be run at a frantic pace and given he stays further is easy to consider. WHENTHEDEALINSDONE (19) caught the eye when seventh at Ascot (hampered badly) and he could be the main danger back up in trip. Previous course and distance winners MR WAGYU (5) and SUMMERGHAND (16) are worth including while FIRST FOLIO (18) is noted wearing first-time cheekpieces.

3:55

7f Charlton Handicap

POSITIVE IMPACT (6) took a step forward when narrowly denied by an improving rival at Newmarket (July). The drop back to 7f looks interesting and a bold showing can be expected under top apprentice Benoit De La Sayette. There was just a head separating ZERO CARBON (10) and SPIRIT OF NGURU (5) when the pair met at Haydock tackling this trip recently. The former set a slow gallop that day and may have been slightly flattered by a good ride though that said he is clearly progressing and could be in the mix once more while the latter receives a small swing in the weights and is sure to appreciate this big-field. WODETON (9) cannot be ruled out.
