4:00 Nottingham – Yaxeni
Unless we have significant rainfall, the ground may well turn against Trueshan as he makes his seasonal return. On form, he should win, but he does need a softer surface underfoot and given that he is unlikely to be fully tuned up for this, he is worth opposing with YAXENI. Ger Lyons sends his 5-year-old across for this Listed race and with an excellent record when fresh, this doesn’t look to be a social visit to Nottingham. He has finished in the frame in pattern company in each of the last 2 seasons and arrives with the yard in reasonable form. He signed off his campaign by winning the November handicap at Naas in October and if he can replicate that form, he should put it up to Trueshan.
4:15 Leopardstown – Pretreville
It has already been a successful year for Ado McGuinness and he could add to that success with Pretreville in this Listed prize. A multiple winner in his native France, he has taken his time to come to the boil since switching to Ireland but has shown signs this year that he may be coming back to his best. The winner of a rated race at Dundalk in January, he ran with great credit to finish 2nd in a Group 2 in Doha on his latest start in February and arrives here with fitness on his side. Versatile ground wise, he looks to have been found a very good opportunity to add to his already impressive CV.
