2:25 Ludlow – DEJA VUE
This is a very competitive looking Mares Novices’ Chase, but DEJA VUE makes the most appeal. A winner at Exeter in December, she has been tried in much higher company at the Lingfield Million meeting and then in the Listed Mares’ Chase at Exeter 2-weeks ago. Having made the running on that occasion, she was still travelling and 2-lengths up on the field when falling at the 12th fence. It was far too early to say whether she would have given Snow Leopardess a race, but she was still going well on the deep ground and should find this drop in class much easier. If over her fall, she could get a relatively soft lead here and could be hard to peg back on a track that favours front runners.
4:45 Ludlow – HERONORD
A career record of 0-10 may not inspire too much confidence, but HERONORD appears to have found his level and should find this Class 5 Handicap a much easier task than the races he has previously contested. Having run to a reasonable standard in Irish Maiden hurdles when he was trained by Paul Nolan, he may well have won on his debut for Evan Williams at Taunton in November if he hadn’t unseated at the 3rd last. Since then, he has been campaigned in some difficult races, including when 3rd to the very progressive Galop de Chasse over this course and distance 2-weeks ago. A mark of 105 looks very fair based on his earlier form and this looks to be a very good opportunity for him. Adam Wedge comes in for the ride and it will be disappointing if he can’t compete in a race that lacks any serious depth.
