Whilst it can be described as competitive, this probably isn’t the deepest Hunters Chase at a Spring Festival and AN DROICHEAD GORM is a clear pick on recent form. He finished 2nd in a decent Hunters Chase at Wexford last March and returned from a 12-month absence to win a point-to-point at Monksgrange last month by 4-lengths. The 3rd from that race has won since to boost the form and although that was the first win of his career, An Droichead Gorm has finished in the frame on 4 of his last 5 starts under rules and in the context of this field, that should be enough to see him go close. Neil Bashford is good value for his 7lb claim and could gain a first win over the Punchestown fences with Stephen Careys 9-year-old.
