An impressive winner on debut at Bath in April, WHISTLE AND FLUTE was sent off the 13/8 favourite for the Two-year-old Trial at Royal Ascot Trials Day in April, where he finished 2nd to Bakeel. Initially he may have been perceived to have disappointed at Ascot, but an examination of the time and the performance of the winner would suggest that he was simply unlucky to bump into an above average rival who is one of the principles for the Coventry stakes next month. He still finished 3-lengths clear of the 3rd placed Fragrance, who boosted the form by winning at Catterick on his next start and if he can repeat that effort, it might be enough to win what looks a weaker contest on paper.
