The feature race on day 1 of the May meeting is the Chester Vase at 3:10 and given the current form of Charlie Appleby and William Buick, it is no surprise to see that New London is a warm favourite in the early markets. He is 2 from 2 so far after convincing wins in Novice races at Newmarket, but he does need to improve, which is of course highly likely, but there are others in this field who have achieved more on the track and make him worth opposing.DILLIAN was 4th to Coroebus on his debut before getting his head in front at Goodwood on his 2nd start. He was pitched into Group 1 company for his final start last season, which shows the high regard that the Michael Bell yard clearly have for him, finishing 6th in the Grand Criterium de Saint-Cloud in October when not getting a clear run in the final furlong. Although he would not have won, he may well have stayed on into the placings and that effort confirmed that he was worth his place in top class company. A son of Camelot out of DebDebDeb, a wonderful dual-purpose mare who stayed particularly well, he should have no trouble stepping up to 12-furlongs on his comeback. He holds entries in both Derbies and should prove his credentials for those races with a big effort here.
