Selections

6-year-olds have won 4 of the last 9 renewals of this race and the only 6-year-old in this year’s lineup is HAMISH for William Haggas. He makes his seasonal return having been off since disappointing on the All-Weather at Kempton in November, but he has a much better record on turf and won on his return from a 14-month absence last September to allay any fears over his readiness for this. Although he does have a penalty to carry, he is the only horse in this field to have won over this trip and with the Haggas team operating at a 30% strike rate in the last 14-days, there is every reason to believe that he will be able to do himself justice. William Haggas has a solid record at the Chester May meeting, with 5 winners from 25 runners in the last 10 years, whilst the partnership of Haggas and Tom Marquand have a 50% strike rate on the Roudee.

Hamish is lightly raced for a 6-year-old, but has confirmed his stamina on several occasions and with all of the main contenders in the market making their seasonal return, as well as needing to confirm their own credentials at the trip, he is overpriced in the markets.
