Although he didn’t see out the trip at Haydock last time, it is worth forgiving SCIPION that effort as the ground was utterly bottomless and it was too much to ask many of such a young and inexperienced horse. On his previous form, including when 3rd in the G2 Leamington Spa at Warwick in January, where he was beaten less than 5-lengths, he should be more than capable of winning a maiden like this. The small field should make it easier for him to see out the trip and this winning pointer, who is related to decent stayers like Shantou Warrior and Classic Concorde, should gain a first win under rules at the 4th time of asking.
