2:30 Wetherby – Towton Novices’ Chase (G2)
All eyes will be on AHOY SENOR. Lucinda Russell’s stable star was a devastating winner at Newbury in November and if he arrives in that form, he will be very hard to beat.
He wasn’t suited by the sharp track at Kempton last time and the fact they went so slowly in the early stages would not have played to his strengths. He was readily out sprinted in the straight by Bravemansgame who jumped with much more fluency. We can forgive that effort, but in a small field on forecast “Good” ground it could be a similar scenario here and he could be worth taking on.
As a 5-year-old, SAINT PALAIS receives 11lbs from Ahoy Senor and Richard Bandey’s French recruit has done very little wrong over fences so far and is worth his place in this company. He steps up in class after solid wins here and at Newbury last time and won’t mind if it turns into a tactical affair and is probably a shade of value against his more famous opponent.
On recent form, the other 2 in the lineup look to have a lot to find.
