This weekend has a typical end of season feel and without the excitement of the festival, it is hard to be overly excited about too many horses on Saturday’s cards. That being said, the opening race at Thurles does look to be a decent opportunity for MAX FLAMINGO to get a first win over fences. His main rivals, BACARDYS and FIGHTER ALLEN have really struggled for consistency and are likely to be a shorter price than they should be and neither can be trusted to give their true running. Max Flamingo has some solid form behind the likes of GABYNAKO and FURY ROAD this season and the return to a right-handed track should be more to his liking than Leopardstown. He was 4th in the Grade 1 Novice chase over Christmas and was better than the bare result when he was 7th at the Dublin Racing Festival. He was given too much to do and jumping out to his right meant that he gave away too much ground. This race should be run to suit and he is good value to get a first win over fences.
