Manchester City vs Liverpool – Verdict
This pair have already met twice this season with both teams taking a victory. Man City won 3-2 at The Etihad in the League Cup before Christmas, while Liverpool won 1-0 at Anfield in the Premier League.
Liverpool have been a different animal away from home this season and it’s probably worth noting the Etihad scoreline when trying to work out what will happen on Saturday lunchtime.
Liverpool pegged City back twice before Nathan Ake stroked in the winner and it could be more of the same again this weekend.
The last four meetings between these sides in Manchester have seen both teams score and even though Liverpool have tended to land the unders in recent weeks, it might well pay to go with the overs on this occasion. Before losing to Bournemouth they had registered four clean sheets and they have seemed to be more secure of late.
Jurgen Klopp seems to have got the defensive side of the game together and they do not look likely to ship many goals even against the champions.
That solidity may well cost them in attack and away from home they have only averaged one goal per game. Liverpool have been shocking away from Anfield, winning just three times on the road – and City is hardly the place to get over that.
Expect City to get another three points, but it may only be by the odd goal.
