Everton vs Arsenal 17/09/2023 – Verdict

Everton have had a disappointing start to the season, with their recurring issue of not scoring enough goals rearing its head once again. They have lost both of their home games 1-0 so far.

After being thumped 4-0 by Aston Villa, Evertonians finally had a goal to cheer. With their 45th shot of the season, Abdoulaye Docoure gave them the lead in a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United.

Arsenal have had a good start to the Premier League season, collecting 10 points from their opening four games. However, Mikel Arteta will be disappointed that they lost their unbeaten record so early on.

Arsenal had come from behind to lead 2-1 against 10-man Fulham, but a late goal from Joao Palhinha earned the visitors a draw at the Emirates.

Scoring goals is not a new problem for Everton or a Sean Dyche team. True to form, no Premier League team has been more wasteful than the Toffees.

They’ve massively underperformed against their expected goal of six so far this season, scoring twice in the draw at Bramall Lane.

Dyche’s team has created more clear-cut scoring opportunities than any other team in the league except Chelsea, scoring two goals and missing 11 in four matches.

Keeping Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit is a never-ending struggle that could potentially improve those numbers so his return would be a welcome one this weekend.

Arsenal’s last win at Goodison Park was a long time ago Arsenal are a difficult team to beat, but Sean Dyche’s teams have always performed better when they are defending and have less possession of the ball. This could be a difficult test for the Gunners.

when they beat Everton 5-2. Wayne Rooney and Oumar Niasse scored for Everton, who had a man sent off.

Since then, they’ve picked up 13 points in their last five meetings at Goodison and in the previous 27 meetings, the away team has only won three times. Don’t write them off.

It’s hard to beat against Arsenal but Dyche’s teams have always fared better when they are backs to the wall and defending deep in their territory. This could prove tricky for the Gunners.
