GROCER JACK (4) brings previous European form which could set the standard and given he comes out best at the weights holds strong claims. FINEST SOUND (3) clearly failed to handle the track when tailed off at Epsom in latest. Might be seen in a better light back on this more straightforward galloping track. DESERT ENCOUNTER (2) is respected on reappearance although may have other targets down the line.

Having won a course and distance handicap off 2.5kg in July 2020 RESHOUN (2) looks a solid contender on the back of an excellent second in the Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race) over 4350m at Royal Ascot. GOING GONE (4) comes unexposed as a stayer at the level. Rates highly following a good fourth over 4000m in the Ascot Stakes (Handicap) at Royal Ascot. DIAMOND BAY (7) was denied a short-head at Salisbury recently and is interesting going back up in trip racing off the same mark. First-time visor could aid WITHHOLD (1).

HAPPY ROMANCE (12) and DILIGENT HARRY (2) along with MINZAAL (5) all contested the G1 Platinum Jubilee Stakes over this trip at Royal Ascot last-time. Of those the first mentioned is preferred having also performed creditably when eighth in the G1 July Cup at Newmarket (July) last week while the latter pair both remain particularly interesting as unexposed sprinters. ROHAAN (6) bounced back to form winning the Wokingham (Handicap) at Royal Ascot and could be involved.

Richard Hannon has won three of the past four renewals and saddles no fewer than five. Although drawn low (the last ten winners have been handed double figure draws) SWIFT ASSET (3) is selected to build on a highly-promising Windsor novice success and land this valuable prize. Filly MARIA BRANWELL (11) comes out well at the weights and looks the form horse following an excellent third in the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. ROGUE SPIRIT (13) managed a neck second at Beverley two starts back which puts him in the mix while EDDIE’S BOY (4) and MIAMI GIRL (2) may go well.
