Dermot Weld has an excellent record at York, with a 33% SR in the last 10 years at a LSP of +£3.75 to £1 stakes. He sends his outstanding race mare SEARCH FOR A SONG to take on Stradivarius this Friday and although the Colts and Geldings have won all the last 10 renewals of this race, few with the ability of Dermot Welds mare have tried. Twice an Irish St. Leger winner, she won on her only previous start at York when landing the Listed Galtres Stakes in August 2019.She finished 2nd on her comeback run last month in the Vintage Crop at Navan, when chasing home her full brother Kyprios, an unexposed, Aiden O’Brien trained 5-year-old who runs for the same ownership. Having made nice headway into the home straight, she did tire in the closing stages but kept on into 2nd place, with a race fit Baron Samedi 4-lengths behind her in 3rd. She should improve significantly for that outing and given that she technically has 2lbs in hand with the now 8-year-old Stradivarius at the weights, she is good value to cause the upset.
