Manchester City seem to be in a hurry to get the Premier League title wrapped up as quickly as possible, going through the month of December without dropping a point and adding wins over Arsenal and Chelsea since the turn of the year. They have only dropped 10 points all season, but 2 of those were against Southampton at the Etihad earlier in the campaign, when the 2 teams played out a 0-0 draw.
The Saints are likely to form a solid rearguard action against the Champions and so the safe approach to this is to play the under 2.5 goals market. Only Wolves have left St. Mary’s with all 3 points this season and although they struggle to score at the other end, Ralph Hassenhuettl has at least made his side hard to beat at home.
Discipline will be the key and with 12 yellow cards and 2 reds in their last 6 games, the Saints have some work to do in that department. A low scoring City win looks the play, with the likelihood of plenty of booking points being added by Southampton as they work hard to keep them out.
